This is the Panzer version of the officer's M38 pattern field cap. It's almost identical in pattern to the enlisted man's M34 cap except that it is black and has the addition of bullion wire embroidered cockade, metallic woven eagle and silver metallic, basket-weave piping around the crown and the forward edge of the turn-up.
